STIHL M-Tronic is the defining feature of this chainsaw: the fully electronic engine management system automatically adjusts the ignition timing and fuel delivery to account for external conditions — temperature, altitude and fuel quality. The result is optimum engine output from the very first cut, with no need for manual carburettor adjustments.

The 2-MIX engine with four-channel technology meets EU Stage V emission standards and delivers up to 20% lower fuel consumption and up to 50% lower exhaust emissions compared to conventional STIHL two-stroke engines without this technology. The combined lever with stop function simplifies the starting process: once the machine is switched off, the lever automatically returns to the run position, allowing immediate restart when the engine is still warm.

The long-life air filtration system combines pre-separation and an HD2 filter. Pre-separation removes larger particles before they reach the filter, while the HD2 filter — with pores up to 70% finer than textile and polyamide filters — captures the finest dust and protects the engine. The filter is oil-repellent, easy to clean and replaceable without tools. The integrated carburettor compensator maintains consistent engine performance as the air filter gradually becomes contaminated, eliminating unnecessary maintenance stops during work.

The adjustable-delivery oil pump allows lubrication flow to be tailored to the bar length and timber type, working alongside the STIHL Ematic system to reduce chain oil consumption by up to 50%. Side-mounted chain tensioning enables fast and secure re-tensioning without extra tools, while captive nuts on the sprocket cover prevent component loss in the field. Fuel and oil tank caps open and close without tools via a bayonet closure. Carburettor preheating ensures reliable operation in cold conditions.
