The STIHL FS 491 C-EM Brushcutter is a professional petrol clearing saw built for local authorities, road and roadside maintenance companies, and landscape maintenance specialists working across large areas with intensive cutting requirements. With a 520 mm cutting diameter and 2.4 kW output, it delivers fast working progress even through dense vegetation, brushwood and small trees.

The STIHL 2-MIX EU Stage V engine with M-Tronic 3.0 electronic engine management regulates ignition timing and fuel delivery in real time, accounting for temperature, altitude and fuel quality to ensure consistently optimum performance at maximum speed with low fuel consumption. STIHL ErgoStart significantly reduces the effort needed to start the machine — a smooth, even pull is all it takes. The universal gearbox with re-lubrication option increases robustness and service life under intensive working conditions. The 25° gearbox angle, optimised for short-shaft clearing saws, makes sawing more comfortable during young tree maintenance work.

The STIHL 4-point anti-vibration system significantly reduces vibration levels during partial-load operation, relieving muscles and joints over extended sessions. The ADVANCE Grip handles provide innovative ergonomics with multiple hand positions and an intuitive side-mounted locking lever. The ergonomic two-handed loop handle supports a natural cutting motion and adjusts without tools — it can be rotated 90° for compact storage. The new deflector design improves visibility of the cutting attachment during work and simplifies storage. The stop button automatically returns to the run position after actuation. A simple slider switches between summer and winter operation.

The STIHL ADVANCE PLUS universal harness is included as standard. The FS 491 C-EM is supplied with the AutoCut 46-2 mowing head or BrushCut D 300 mm blade (depending on the variant selected) and is compatible with nylon cutting heads, grass blades, brushcutter blades and circular saw blades.
